Museum of the Cathedral

Museum of the Cathedral

The Museum of the Cathedral preserves important works from the monuments in the Field of Miracles. A room is entirely dedicated to Guglielmo, the artist who sculpted the first pulpit for the Cathedral, donated to Cagliari Cathedral in 1312 and replaced with Giovanni Pisano's work.

Major exhibits include the bronze griffin, the basin of Islamic (Fatimid) origin, a crucified Christ of Burgundian origin, and works by Tino di Camaino such as the original sculptures from St. Ranieri's tomb-altar and the effigy of Henry VII of Luxembourg with his advisors.

Also remarkable are Giovanni Pisano's statues from the Baptistery, including he wooden crucifix known as Cristo d'Elci, the Madonna del Colloquio and the ivory Madonna with Child. Also worthy of mention are the colour engravings by Lasinio, reconstructing the frescoes in the Monumental Cemetery.
